All I can hear in my head is 'Jitterbug' right now...
Also, new art on the last page?

@Don Quixotes: Yeah, the other one was just placeholder art.

Curious. His thoughts seem quite different from when he invaded. This version is more paranoid while the first seemed paranoid but determined.

"Another opportunity to communicate with his new batch." That was an attempt to communicate? My current theory that those paintings were part of the defenses by forcing the intruder to mess with them rather than the rest of the house may be slightly more feasible.

Definitely smart and quick witted. Also crazy.

@Mindsword2: I agree that the not-mage seemed considerably calmer than Cross does. I'm skeptical of your theory, though: if Amical had magical decoys meant to buy time, he wouldn't use portraits of himself for that purpose. He's too narcissistic for that, and I doubt it's just an act. Also, we don't know what the attempt to communicate was - it could have been the break-in, but it also could have happened off-camera.

@Seth: Truth.

My theory may be entirely incorrect. I just looked at the emotions being portrayed as he destroyed them and thought "Mind magic."

@Mindsword2: Maybe he was on the verge of awakening as a Mastigos, and the paranoia persists. along with the mental bits.
*crosses fingers*
"Emily": Uh, why'd you want to talk to them again? (Seriously, I can't imagine Asia NOT trying to get a bit of info out of Cross!) Also, I can't help but think of him as "Acrux," part of the Southern Cross.
