Oh look, it's your best friend Misrkwerakfsd, and she is helping bandage up the arm that you lost... yeah... that's what's happening...

She's in curios mind :D

And just like that...
The plot thicken's, like a soup that has had too much cheese added.

@Aslandus: damn how did you know her name?

Just a suggestion, but something that would be really helpful would be an option to go back to an earlier panel rather than only going forward. Like for today's page, I wanted to go back and watch the flash of memories, but to do that, I had to start from the beginning (and wait for Hizrim to finish speaking each time). I dunno if it's something that's at all possible, but if you ever do a redesign of the site, that would be one suggestion.

Interesting.

Why did curio not want to talk? I didn't get a good enough look at the images to see if anything creepy (besides laughing person) was there. Terrible visual learner.

Also, The Hizrim. Hizrim speaking in the third person was odd, but putting a the there makes it more like a title. I decided to search for it. Hizrim gets a hit for "flow" in Hebrew. Sadly, this tells us nothing save that I have to call it The Hizrim now.

As for what it did, that looks like Read the Depths, Mind 4. However... If I recall properly, to help another person do an effect is usually whatever sphere lv it is +1. So Hizrim would have at minimum Mind 4 and more likely Mind 5. Conceivably, you could use Mind 4 and then channel the information back to the mage in such a way to make it seem like they were doing it, but I assume the easier method is just having them do it with your help. If Mind 5 is accurate, it could be nothing more than a mind with no body (which may account for some of the oddity).

Last post I said it seems reasonably safe. Now we know its quite powerful, but still (probably) hasn't done any harm. But now it wants something. What price would it demand for its help?

Interestingly, there was also a hit for a picture that was "Hizrim and Andy from the Mage campaign. They fight a lot." Possibly unrelated. Regardless, no picture for me to analyze.

@Floweramon: In this case, this is kinda intentional. The memories aren't meant to be seen easily or for a long time. If you happen to want to go back and try again, then you do. But it's one of those cases where, if we wanted them to be focused on and easy to see, we'd have left them on screen longer.

Though I think it's not a bad idea to consider having a back button, most of our pages are short enough that usually a refresh and reflip through doesn't take longer than a minute or two.

It looked like a birthday party to me. But I'm really not sure....

Uh, one thing. Maybe in the future, make Hizrim's voice a teensy bit louder? I have to turn my computer's volume up to 100% to hear Hizrim properly.

burningtyger, August 26th, 2014, 10:20 pm     Reply

@Don Quixotes: Welll it IS a whisper. While the small glimpse I got to the old Hizrim leads me to suggest he warred with Andy over hsi mind, the appareance and evne motivatin of this version may not be the same as the past version. As for the memories, I seemed to see playground bullies; Curio, his mom and sister celebrating his birthday... and the creepy laughing girl we've seen before in Tyler's memories.

@Don Quixotes: This was a deliberate also, but the blame falls on me for this. I encouraged Craig to sound mix it softly because I wanted HIZRIM's voice to be more on the subtle side because I didn't want his exact words to be the MAIN focus, just more atmospheric originally what I wanted was for the audience to care about his delivery, his tone etc more than the words themselves. Though I admit I may have made the wrong choice with it in that regard. I was going for it being slightly obscured.

@ChibiSilverWings: Frankly I don't mind turning it up a bit, and since the words are also shown on screen I think they've clear enough; I like it. Buzzing whispers in darkness.... sounds quite familiar. Maybe HIZRIM spoke to HPL?

@ChibiSilverWings: I'll try to do a medium for future Hizrim lines. I have some in the buffer already, for ones after that I will lower only by half the amount I've been lowering thus far.

Thanks for the feedback guys, this whole voice thing was a big experiment. I'm really happy with how well it's been received and want to fine tune it for perfection.

@stkbayfield: Yeah let's work for a middle ground I think. :D

Don Quixotes, August 27th, 2014, 2:18 am     Reply

Mhmm, couldn't agree more. Middle ground is best ground, unless you can get the High Ground(TM).

It's just that, while catching up through the archive, I didn't know there WAS an audible voice until I read the comments.

@Floweramon: I totally agree. It would make much more sense to have a backward arrow as well.

Well, my money is on HIZRIM being a Djinn. It sort of fits so far. *sits back with some popcorn and sees how things develop*

@burningtyger: AHA! So we know there may be an Andy floating around somewhere... and that Hizrim stays to fight the guy.

At least one version of him did at one time.

Yes... more details that mean very little at this moment.

@Mindsword2: lol yeah to be honest, most of the snippets that are left from the old info aren't just hidden because it ruins surprises, but also because without context and with how much we're already changed, those things could end up be just being confusing to you guys XD

@ChibiSilverWings: I am my game's Rule Lawyer and main fact collector. The snippets may mean nothing, but I enjoy finding them, collecting them, and analyzing them

@Mindsword2: Haha oh dear! You're that guy eh?

I've met your kind. The source of countless 30 minute long deviations at the table over how far they should be able to jump off this dragon in mid combat because this spell's long range is 80 ft and the Dragon is 100 feet tall and I'm the rest of us all get dragged in and are like "can we just BATTLE these dire celestial badgers already?! GOD!"

Oh yes Mindsword. I know your kin.

That being said of Trish, Craig and I, I'm the most likely to argue with our good lady GM. They let her do as she will, but I do have my occasional bouts of rule deviations where I drag out the book. But she is my wife after all, I think that's just to be expected.

@Mindsword2: Also since I'm a ball of anxiety over these things, I hope I didn't hurt your feelings or something like that, I was only joking around :< Our rules lawyer was my good friend who helped me learn to play and the one who won our final battle in our 4 year long DnD campaign.

I never meant for it to sound mean so I hope it didn't, and I apologize if it did! I panic about these things like my being playful doesn't come across well in text. Hopefully you forgive me!

Mindsword2 (Guest), August 29th, 2014, 5:36 pm     Reply

@ChibiSilverWings: There is nothing to forgive. I knew it was a joke. I didn't respond because a new page came up.

Also, please. One does not get to be a rules-lawyer without developing a skin that can resist the GM's picking.

To be fair, I never did argue stuff like that. I mostly serve as the groups information database on the various rules. The GM doesn't always memorize everything, while I tend to do that out of habit if I know a game is coming.

ChibiSilverWings, August 30th, 2014, 3:43 am     Reply

@Mindsword2: Yeah, when we play, most of the time we don't do TOO much with mechanics anyhow, because we just talk in character a lot and don't end up in combat a ton, and usually we just drag out the book if ever we're using a supernatural ability. XD That might be noticeable from the comic. Cuz lots of character development XD

@ChibiSilverWings: I suspect some of the twists you have in store will even surprise the original players; after all it would be no fun for you if they knew exactly what was coming...

@burningtyger: Do you mean the original players of morphE? Because that was the four of us :) though to be honest, I have the least amount of input in the rewrite -- by choice, because they have far better ideas than I do. So sometimes we'll have meetings and there have been decisions made that I didn't know in advance so I guess they ARE actually plot twists 8D

if you meant something else then carry on, please ignore me
