Shame poor Amical is so heart broken. :(

I know how Billy means that sentence, but I'm honestly not sure how Amical is going to take it.

@Arcblade: Knowing him, he'll probably just go with it; something like "I know billy, how horrible of them!"

@Unei: I dunno, think there's enough snark there that he might get it.

@burningtyger: Amical doesn't have the greatest track record with snark, especially given his current mood.

@Don Quixotes:With sarcasm, perhaps, but I'm not reading a deadpan delivery here; rather, the facial expression suggests mockery. I'm guessing his actual face suggests the same... "Riiight. I couldn't see a SINGLE person being upset with you for ANY reason..."

Usually I wouldn't want to break up a fan debate, because I really like to see what you guys are thinking and I enjoy your perceptions and theories! Butttttt since this is a pretty small aspect I'd like to share some insight straight from the horses' mouth, if you will.

Billy uses sarcastic comments like this one as a way of keeping himself from saying something worse that would get him in more trouble. Such as something direct like "You're a fucking idiot." You'll notice in conversations with Tyler, or Asia, etc that he uses much more direct insults. Billy feels much less threatened by his fellow Seedlings, thus his far more free use of insult.

Amical DOES have some issues in perceiving people's feelings, it's pretty clear back in his dealings with Curio's lesson on the balcony that he can be dense about feelings at times. Though, in this case (and many other similar to this) it's in his best interest to PRETEND he doesn't get the sarcasm. If he takes it as a sincere statement it both robs Billy of the enjoyment of his insult and thwarts his intentions, AND it allows him to feed into his own delusion that he is liked by Billy (and by everyone). It's sorta win-win in that regard.

So there's a little character motive babble for you. Enjoy?

@ChibiSilverWings: I suspected as much.

From the beginning with all these paintings, I've been getting a strong "Picture of Dorian Gray" vibe. With Amical's reaction and Billy's comment, that vibe is just getting all the stronger.
